And here I am! Why did you choose to be a Hollywood actress? VINTAGE DISPLAYS THE DIVERSITY IN WINE

Image
The appeal of some things are global. Affinity for them seems to cross nearly all national, cultural, religious, economic, and political boundaries. That’s a very tall standard and while it isn’t unanimous, the love of wine comes very close; closer than just about anything else. Which elicits the query, what is it about wine that makes it appealing to so many different types of people? Oenophiles deliberate on the virtues of wine for countless hours but the majority of us simply know what we like and what we don’t. Still, the reasons for the popularity of delicately fermented grapes is so embraced that one wonders what is the key to its ubiquity. Peter Backeberg was so intrigued with the concept and his own love of wine that he created a television production around it. Vintage: Napa Valley has aired on three-hundred sixty-one PTV channels covering eighty-eight percent of U.S. TV Households. The program’s National Average Household Rating equates to 6,355,000 Gross Household Impressi...

Interview with American playwright Les Thomas

Image
Today our guest is Les Thomas an American playwright traveling to Europe in early 2018 to continue researching Pontius Pilate for a stage play. We have conducted an interview with him. What brought you to write a play about Pontius Pilate? Why are you still researching his history? Seeing Basil Rathbone’s portrayal of Pontius Pilate in RKO Radio Pictures’ 1935 ‘The Last Days of Pompeii’ was life-changing! Rathbone’s Pilate displayed such evocative guilt at his actions that I was crying for his pain; Jesus was literally out of the frame (for those who've seen the film know Jesus is never fully shown in a literal frame of the print but remains one of his most powerful filmic “appearances”). And so during Lent of 2014, I wrote a full-length play entitled ‘Acts of Pilate’ based largely off apocryphal texts examining Pilate’s role during The Passion. To me, it fell flat as a work in the art of the drama. This was roundly the critical consensus. To my surprise, it found mos...
