Image
Today our guest is Jennifer Juan . She is a 25-year-old writer, living in the south of England. Jennifer is currently celebrating the release of her first printed poetry collection "Stormy Weather" and creating a short film, "Ours" based on her earlier poetry that was previously published online, through her website. We have conducted an interview with her. Why do you want to make poetry more accessible to young people? How do you plan to do that? I remember being at school and being fascinated by poetry, but always feeling it was above me when in reality, poetry is a human expression, made extravagant, and coming to that realisation opened a whole new world for me, and I want to give that realisation to other young people. Poetry can be quite difficult to access, in the UK, there isn't really a chance to really read or study it until the later part of secondary school, so I think by presenting relatable and engaging poetry to young people through...

AUTISM Thomas in the Microwave and Other Stories by Emily Alice Wilson

Image
Emily Alice Wilson is a mum of 2 teenager from England. Her eldest son has an autism diagnosis, so she wrote a book " AUTISM Thomas in the Microwave and Other Stories by Emily Alice Wilson " to help other parents and carers. Emily also works for a Domestic Violence Charity as a Domestic Violence survivor herself. We have conducted an interview with her. What motivates you in your activism in autism? I know how much bias he has received from others, as a result of his behavior differences, from when he was a toddler, due to their lack of understanding of why he is reacting like that! I think it is important to educate about autism so that those with autism integrate better and can feel included! Rather than people wanting to change the behavior of those with autism, accepting would be better. Trying to constantly change behavior, just causes an anxious person to be even more anxious and achieve...

Image
Susanne Haywood is an author currently living in the South of England but spent extended periods in Austria, Australia and in the United States. Her professional life was divided between teaching, research, and higher education management, but a little while ago she began writing full-time. Her inspiration and encouragement for this decision were their ginger tomcat Tigger, whose 2015 ' Pawtobiography ' was her first novel. We have conducted an interview with Susanne. How long did you take to write 'Tigger: Memoirs of a Cosmopolitan Cat'? Tigger and I wrote this book over several years, as the events of his adventurous life unfolded. What are the key themes of this book? Why did you write it? We wrote it because we reckoned few cats if any had lived on 3 continents and moved with their humans as often and as easily as he did. Adapting to new smells, tastes and sights, surviving in alien environments AND keeping your humans sane requires a lot of skills....
