Brandon Koen brings on the laughs in new award-winning comedy ‘Night Shift’

Image
For renowned British Actor Brandon Koen, acting is as much about performing as it is about learning. Whenever he embodies a new character, he learns a new aspect of humanity, an insight into another life. It is for this reason that he so enjoys his craft, as he is able to experience so many different things in front of a camera, often that he never would be able to do otherwise. “Acting is storytelling, and the goal is to convey the truth of the character through performance to give the audience an experience. Whatever that experience is, it’s entertainment that’s being provided and entertaining the audience is paramount,” he said. Koen has starred in a multitude of award-winning films that have seen massive acclaim at both international and national film festivals, such as Benji, The Little Picture, and Foible . He also had a supporting role in James Crowe’s successful horror movie, House of Salem , which premiered at Frightfest United Kingdom and has since terrified aud...

Growing up in Córdoba, Argentina, Bruno Romagnoli realized even at a young age that he had a passion for performing. His mother was a professional photographer, and as a child she would bring her son to various events to learn about the cameras and the lighting. Evan Marsh on authentic acting and award-winning film ‘The Journey is the Destination’

Image
“Where does my character fall into this story?” “Why did the writer write such a character?” “What is the arc and purpose of my character to this script?” These are all questions Canada’s Evan Marsh asks himself before he takes any role. He knows his first task as an actor is not winning awards and being better than the rest, but simply telling a story. He focuses on his character and what they’ve gone through in their life before that first page of the script, and such a commitment to his craft is evident in every project he takes on. As an internationally sought-after actor, Marsh knows just what it takes to captivate an audience. He is known for films like The Space Between and Giant Little Ones , and television shows like Northern Rescue . No matter the project, Marsh is happy to be living his dream, knowing since childhood that this is what he was meant to do. Spanish Star Pablo Olewski’s Increasing Exposure to American Audiences

Image
The natural path of an actor is not to star as the lead in their film. In fact, quite the opposite. Those who fall into the gravitational pull of the limelight are the ones who often appear beside the Marquee stars of the day and eventually assume this position. Spanish born Pablo Olewski certainly fits this definition. Not so long ago, Brad Pitt was the lean cowboy hat wearing J.D. in Thelma & Louise (1991); now present day finds Olewski acting with Pitt in the Paramount Pictures feature film Allied and opposite Viggo Mortensen in Captain Alatriste : The Spanish Musketeer . Compelling in both of these films, it’s no surprise that Olewski is the lead in the upcoming SciFi film The Mirror . The increasing international collaboration of the film community has offered Pablo as the latest actor to entice Hollywood with his talent, magnetism, and global appeal. Based on the works of Spanish novelist Arturo Perez Reverte, Captain Alatriste : The Spanish Musketeer stars three-t...

EMBRACING WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE HATED…ON SCREEN

Image
Canadian actor PJ Johal is an affable and charming person. It’s disturbing to watch him as Farid Singh in “The Guard.” It’s almost like seeing someone’s evil twin. Statements like this during an interview cause Johal to smile, which is disconcerting in its own way due to his portrayal of Singh. The duplicitous character in this Canadian drama series is someone whom most viewers would find despicable, which again makes the actor smile. Being so pleasant in his personal life and so menacing on screen means that he is doing his job properly.  An actor must believe that the evil intentions of their character are based in as much truth and reality as the inclination in helping or saving someone. The difference is that one is insane but the character only judges logical actions/reasoning within the given circumstances of the character’s life and environment. “The Guard” is a Canadian television production about the heroic men and women of the Canadian Coast Guard…and heroes need a villain. ...

The Uneasy Critical Success of Orion Lee

Image
When you played pretend in your youth, chances are that you played the most stereotypical version of a hero or villain. The grown up version of this is acting and the mastery of its purveyors is their ability to play the seemingly endless variations of these characters. Actor Orion Lee takes delight in this throughout his career. Appearing in Skyfall (starring Daniel Craig), the FX series Tyrant , Warner Bros/DC’s Justice League, Star Wars : The Last Jedi , and many other productions has afforded Lee the opportunity to play the menacing to the benevolent. Acting careers are built on challenges and conflict that are often understated; in these terms, Orion’s role as Brian Zhao in the UK television series Critical is one of his most challenging. Zhao is not an amiable member of the hospital staff in this award-nominated program (recognized by the Irish Film and Television Awards and British Society of Cinematographers), which is exactly what attracted Lee to the character. The Timeless Quality of Lorena McGregor

Image
Preparation is ideal but not always enough. When actress Lorena McGregor was called to audition for her recent role as Antonia in Don Quixote , a confusion in the process led to her preparing different scenes than those set for the audition. Excusing herself for mere moments to step out and memorize the new sides, she proceeded to wow everyone in the room and cinch the part. Of course it didn’t hurt that she received a personal recommendation from actor/director Diego Luna when Oscar nominate actor/producer/director James Franco inquired about Lorena for Don Quixote . McGregor worked with the Luna directed Cesar Chavez ALMA award-winning film alongside Michael Pena, America Ferrera, and Rosario Dawson and had earned the respect of the Hollywood film community for her portrayal of Sylvia Chavez. Don Quixote offered the young actress the opportunity to play a role in this modern production of a classic novel and film. Carmen Argenziano appears in the film’s title role with Loren...

Interview with actor Tino Orsini

Image
Tino Orsini is an Italian actor living in London, he has just finished a run of an American play at the biggest arts festival in the world. Tino is also a Podcaster with his own award nominated show on iTunes. We have conducted an interview with him. In your opinion, how different is acting in UK versus acting in Hollywood? Well, I've been acting far more years in the UK than I did in Hollywood so I can't really compare fairly but I would say in Hollywood actors are far more market-savvy and the Industry is mainly interested in making movies that will be profitable whereas in the UK there is a much more diverse acceptance of the Independent film scene and taking risks with projects with a,shall we say, more controversial or sensitive nature that the studios are not prepared to take. Do you prefer some roles over the others? Which are your favourite roles? Of course, but generally if I read a script which has something different to say and resonates with me t...

Frenzy

Image
Kamran Fulleylove is currently based in Vancouver although he is from Australia. he currently has a feature film in post production titled Frenzy that features John Jarrat who is a famous Australian actor from Wolf Creek. We have conducted an interview with Kamran. How different is it to work on U.S. TV as opposed to Australian TV? It’s been a really interesting experience working in both Australia and American television. Most notably the differences in culture. The characters in these different countries have extremely different views. Australia has been established on a very social system and is a essentially a small island so there is always this sense of financial and government safety where as I feel America really is the "home of the brave". The chances you take are bigger as there is much more to lose. Understanding these mentalities and how the livelihoods of the characters differ from place to place has been the greatest challenge and also the most rewardin...

The Angry Viking

Image
Eric Ericson is an actor, writer and artist. Eric got the name “ The Angry Viking ” while doing stand up comedy in Los Angeles. He is a direct descendant of the Yngling Viking Dynasty. In 2013, after a series of eye opening personal events, Eric underwent a life change and dropped over 60 pounds. It has reenergized his acting career as he is now being cast in action roles and performing stunts and fights, as well as opening up modeling opportunities. We have conducted an interview with him: How does having the name 'The Angry Viking' makes an impact in your career so far?
I got the name The Angry Viking when I was doing stand-up comedy. One night after my set, the host called me an “Angry $^%& Viking.” The name stuck, minus the “$^%&.” People seem to remember the name, but it definitely creates a pre-impression before someone gets to know me. Sometimes that’s a good thing, sometimes not so much. What is the role you play in the 'David & Goli...
