Interview with painter Haydn Dickenson

Image
Haydn Dickenson was born in Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom where he still lives and works, specialising in large, subtly exuberant free abstract pieces. In his unique work on canvas and board, collage, acrylics, oils and other media collaborate in a suggestive dance of colour, texture and form - at times urgent and vital, at others calm, meditative and spiritual. Haydn is inspired by the natural world, and by Humanity, Psychology, Mysticism and Spirituality. Musical references also appear – His former career was as a Concert Pianist. Haydn Dickenson How and when did you begin making art and in what way do you think your background as a classical concert pianist influenced your art and style? From a very young age I always loved to paint and draw. My mother was a fine painter, rigorously trained at art schools and colleges and later going on to teach Art herself. She encouraged me so devotedly in drawing and painting when I was young and I am so grateful for that nurturing. As a wi...

Interview with artist Charlie Haydn Taylor

Image
A vibrant undertaking of some of society’s most pressing issues, the work of Charlie Haydn Taylor uses the intimacy of home interiors to discuss personal human dilemmas and broader issues ranging from government surveillance to the effect of mental health on individual behaviour. I really just want to create time stamps, so that people notice the world we’re living in.” – Charlie Haydn Taylor Read on to learn more… Artist: Charlie Haydn Taylor Reflected in your artwork are some of society’s most pressing issues. Interview with artist Marina Venediktova

Image
The artist shows the audience something unique that was noticed by him in a short moment in the vast time of his life. I am not an exception. I am a part of the world of artists, and therefore I constantly look at life either through a microscope or through a telescope.   I am looking for exceptional and unique manifestations of reality in the smallest forms of the nature surrounding me.   I am looking for clues inside the process of meditation, which is an important part of my life.   I am looking for answers about the purpose of being, studying the ancient science of Astrology and applying its laws to my own Path on Earth.   But words are too stingy to describe it, so I chose my own language – the language of canvas and oil paints. I know that I am on the right track. I am sure of it, because I am enjoying every moment of time I have spent, creating a new artwork. At these moments I talk to my inner self, and this conversation can last for hour...

Channeling the Adversity of the Pandemic into Celebratory Dance with Nicolas Fiery

Image
With the exception of frontline workers, much of the world waited as comfortably as possible for the pandemic to pass in hopes of returning to a familiar way of life. Nicolas Fiery could not rebuke such a notion quick enough. An internationally lauded dancer and choreographer, Fiery seemed set on increasing his creative output during the unprecedented lockdown of the past year and a half. Commissioned by the Alliance for the Visual Arts Gallery and Art Center (AVA Gallery) in Lebanon, NH, Fiery conducted himself as a champion of keeping dance alive when such an idea seemed highly unlikely. Nicolas Fiery 2020 was a constant barrage of defeating statistics: number of Covid infections, number of deaths, and countries on the brink of economic collapse. Initially, Nicolas Fiery had no intention to create anything that touched upon the topic of Covid; that is, until he understood that art rather than history would tell future generations how it felt to be in the pandemic. This was the impetu...

Liis Koger - The magic that my abstract art conveys

Image
Liis Koger , born 23.12.1989, is an Estonian painter and poet. Liis received a degree in Painting, Fine Arts from the University Of Tartu (2013). She minored in Theology and was enrolled in Psychology courses. Three poetry books have been written by her (all in Estonian). She started launching a career as a freelance artist during school time. Liis Koger (Photo: Jake Farra) What is the 'magic' that your abstract art conveys? The magic is in the energy. I don't EVER say - that abstract, for example - is something special FOR the invisible; I believe the "magic" is the same whether it is Rembrandt or Rothko! The question, that stays MAGICAL, is, that in my opinion, the MAGIC is INSIDE the painting, and cannot be explained by description, what is ON the painting (that much)... It is really funny because a painting is a really - if not wholly - a visual thing. But being an abstract or a realistic piece does not explain the magic. One cannot just do an abstract piece ...
