In addition, NH is a creative art framer, and fashion designer (Doreme). Artist: NH (Nicole Pon Horvath); Photo by Paige Fulleton McFall NH’s work expresses the sensitive transformation of emotions which occur during meditative awareness. In this stillness, the search is for peaceful contemplation to open hearts and minds, creating moments of happiness and profound connection to the natural elements. “For me, being mindful during the creative process is everything! Without this, I would be producing very different work. Part of my process is to be able to see and open my heart and my mind, which helps to attain stillness and permit contemplation. Without stillness, there is no contemplation. Being mindful helps process what I see, what I feel. It gives...

Antoine Navarro connects cultures through the art of architecture

Image
French creative, Antoine Navarro, considers himself fortunate to have been able to travel the world with his parents from a very young age. Along the way, he slowly fell in love with the world’s remaining traces of ancient civilization and the mysterious buildings, sculptures, and statues they left behind. As he explored, and as he gained more exposure to the various pieces of architecture that today’s society has to offer, he experienced an overwhelming sense of fascination and he knew that it was a world he was destined to be a part of. He finds himself energized by the way each building, pillar, and column could connect him to the designers’ experiences and to the cultures that they lived in. Today, Navarro is a highly sought-after architect designer and feels a great sense of pride in knowing that he found a way to channel his deepest passions into tangible projects for the benefit of not only his clients, but of the general public, who experience his designs around them without e...

Interview With Artist Billy Ma, The Creative Genius Behind Booda Brand

Image
Billy Ma is a painter, sculptor, designer and illustrator. He was born in Taiwan but raised in Canada. 2009 saw Billy growing restless with his job as an art director in innovation and so he began to flex his artistic skills via digital illustrations during his spare time. With the popularity of the first images on social media and enquiries from interested buyers, Booda Brand - the limited-edition print company - was conceived. Drawing from contemporary themes, Billy seamlessly and naturally combines eastern and western aesthetics into his artwork. Many influences come from spirituality, socio-political issues and a sardonic sense of humour. Billy now stands by a set of principles to guide Booda Brand artwork: • The art must be beautifully crafted. Too often we see artists who can barely draw a stick figure. • The art must have an inspirational idea and/or soul. Do we need another variation on a portrait of Marilyn Monroe? • The printing and the materials must be museum quality...

TIPS FROM AN ECOLOGICALLY MINDED SUCCESS STORY

Image
As a successful furniture/furnishings designer and CEO/founder of EcoChic Lifestyles, I’ve taken what started as a dream grow into a massive company. It’s a requirement to possess the artistic vision and entrepreneurial spirit in order to create your own business in this industry but the most overlooked aspect is the psychology of what you do in your business practices. The manner in which you direct your efforts can be just as important as having a great product. It was very important to me that the products I created for EcoChic Lifestyles were environmentally responsible. The wood we use is reclaimed from boats in Southeast Asia that are no longer seaworthy. The fishermen and their families have a tradition of painting these boats very bright colors and they are made by craftsmen with great integrity. Even though the boats couldn’t be used for fishing, I found a way to use the wood, help the economy of the region, and create something that brightens any space that it occupi...
