He can re-contextualize any music in a creative and novel way, and has a breadth and depth of knowledge, of different genres through which he can flow effectively. We have conducted a short interview with him about his new single ROMAN CIGI - Countdown To Fight (RC Edit). Why did you want to be a professional DJ? What were the other choices and what led you to music eventually? I would like to be a professional DJ/Producer - Because music means a lot to me. When I listen to music , I feel relaxed , music gives me energy and can't hurt me :D . This is something what I want to do in the future. It's still fresh, but the music makes me happy, and if people enjoy my songs or mix it makes me happy even more. What do you think (in part of your childhood/younger adult life that) cultivates creativity and allows imagination to create great music? If you want to create great mus...

After travelling and working with young people in South Africa and Burundi, she studied painting at Camberwell College of art. Now living in Hackney, East London, her work is an attempt to visually combine diverse and disparate environments and, depict the social and cultural richness found on the streets and spaces of everyday life. As an artist, I have always been drawn to the images and stories that transcend social and geographical boundaries. In my work, I try to foreground the universality of human experience by presenting the most raw and authentic aspects of people. For me, this is often revealed within fleeting and transient moments of reflection, within the most intricate details in expression. It is...

All 3 songs feature only acoustic recordings and there is no synthesizer or electronic beat. As pure and beautiful as music should be. How would you describe yourself in 3 words and what is your music about? If I'd describe me as an ...

ALAN DELAVAN KNOWS WE STARTED SOMETHING

Image
For Alan Delavan, being focused on himself is a good thing. That’s not to imply that this singer/songwriter is vapid in any way but rather that he looks for the value within instead of searching for reassurance by assimilation. It’s not a common approach for those in the music business but neither is the self-imposed solace that Delavan leads at times. There’s no way to completely shut the outside world off and in the song “ We Started Something ” Alan takes an uncommon (for him) opportunity to comment on it. Still, in doing so he always comes from a unique perspective with a personal tone. It’s immediately apparent that he is not writing music to sell sodas or automobiles. You won’t hear autotune or an 808 kick drum in “We Started Something” but what will be heard is the human fingerprint in both the instrumentation and the message of it. Delavan connects with exterior factors and channels a particular way of expression yet always with authenticity. He relates, “For me, music and art...

Interview with jazz vocalist Fiona Ross

Image
Fiona Ross is a Jazz vocalist, pianist, composer and music producer based in London. Her new album, 'Black, White and a Little Bit of Grey', explores the story of a husband, a wife, and a mistress: a web of emotions, of desires, of regrets, of ecstasy. We have conducted an interview with Fiona. photo credit: Alexander Barnes-Ross In your new album, 'Black, White and a Little Bit of Grey', which particular track is one of your personal favorite?  I don’t have any personal favourite’s I’m afraid, they all mean something different to me in different ways. So ‘Busy…..Always Busy’ and ‘Touch Me, You Make Me Feel So’ for example, are really fun to sing and have an easy groove to go along with so I like performing those without having to get too deeply emotionally involved. I think ‘The Evidence Suggests’ is the hardest one to sing, as vocally as it is quite challenging with the range of notes I have to hit and it is a song that shows a wide range of emotions. The...

I have long had an interest in abstract art in it's many forms, so although I feel I'm still developing my own personal style, much of my inspiration has come from those styles of art, especially from cubism, surrealism and expressionism. I also love pop art, so I have taken some of my inspiration from there too. Why did you decide to go into art? Art is something I've wanted to pursue for a long time but there was never a good time to do it. Until recently I was working in the health and social care industry,...

George Fairclough a soon to be 20 year old guy who's recently moved to London to train at theatre school on a musical theatre performance course at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. He started his blog to keep his friends and family back home up to date with his life but he has ended up reaching more people than expected across the world. My first paid job experience in the industry was a bit of voice-over work for Nickelodeon's 'Yo Gabba Gabba.' They'd already had a great success with the programme in the US and wanted to transfer it to the British screen. That day was a very exciting day. I remember waking up extra early - it was like Christmas. I had so much fun just being in the studio and the team were all very friendly and helpful. This was the start of many other opportunities. It released a spark inside of me pushing me to gr...

The Magna Aura Genesis

Image
Today our guest is Raymond Burke from London, UK. His new sci-fi book The Magna Aura Genesis has just been self-published. The Magna Aura Genesis is the first of a 10-book series called The Starguards - Of Humans, Heroes, and Demigods. We have conducted an interview with Raymond. Why did you write your book as "Greco-Roman mythology meets Battlestar Galactica meets Justice League America"? There are elements of each throughout the Starguards series . The first book is The Magna Aura Genesis. There is a creation myth weaved through the first book and the appendices echoing Greek and Roman pantheons. There are also character names based upon the same traditions. Besides Star Trek: TOS and Doctor Who, the next series I loved as a kid was Battlestar Galactica. The space journey, space ship battles, the uniforms were early inspirations. And as I was a comic book reader, how could I ignore the superhero element. The JLA are almost demigods just as the Celestian Knights ...

Swing Punks - Interview with composer Chris Bemand

Image
Chris Bemand is an eclectic music composer based in London. He has released many innovative leftfield electronic albums and writes musical scores for TV and film. His latest project is a live show ‘ Swing Punks ’ that features complete reworkings of classic 70s punk songs using a twenty piece big band. Which are the top three moments of your musical career so far? Singing in front of the Queen when I was eleven years old, playing Glastonbury with my Latin Electro band (Los Ladrones) and composing the score for BAFTA-nominated animated TV show King Arthur’s Disaster’s. Which do you prefer, composing or performing? I tend to oscillate between the two. Composing TV/Film score is creatively very satisfying, but it’s also generally quite a lonely existence in the studio. Sometimes the only contact you have is with the director or the producer of the show. Also, you are generally working to tight deadlines and some of the music that you stay up all night to write gets edited...
