Carolyn has a shop on etsy . She designs, carves and prints textiles; scarves, t-shirts, bags etc plus some personalised items. She did her Masters (Royal College of Art) in Printmaking. She teaches Art in Secondary and Primary schools in London. We have conducted an interview with her. How do design theme/ideas such veganism and Chinese paper cutting come into art work? I’ve been interested in Chinese culture, in particular the art forms, for many years. Such an ancient culture with a very different aesthetic to Western styles is rich in ideas that are new to me. I’ve been vegetarian on and off,(mainly on) since a teenager, it’s hard to ignore the suffering that animals go through daily to provide food for us. I’m working towards being fully vegan, I started making the printed items partly for a friend, partly as a goad to myself. What kind of value adding services do you provide for the t-shirt designs for your clients? Some of my items , in particular the kid...

Image
Nichole Compton is an entrepreneur who just started another venture called Ace's Place . It is a supervised visitation and exchange center for children who have parents that are divorced, don't get along, are court-ordered to the center or the parents have lost custody. We have conducted an interview with her. Who is Ace's Place for? Not all families are healthy. At times, the courts step in and remove custody from one or both parents, requiring supervised visitation. Ace's Place is a 3rd party supervised visitation & exchange center, providing a place for noncustodial parents to safely visit their children, participate in interactive family activities and attend parenting workshops. We have conducted an interview with him. Do you follow any art philosophy or painters art style when you create your art? If I have to choose a contemporary artist from which I got quite inspired when I started painting, I would have to say Gerhard Richter. I learned about painting in layers with the acrylic dissolved in water as to be able to paint layer after layer and keep seeing parts of the layers below. Also I was very inspired by Franz Ackermann, his technique and his use of colours. And in my childhood I was deeply inspired by Jackson Pollock and his biography. Which are the most inspiring moments? What activities inspires you most readily? The most inspiring moments are at night when I'm alone with my music in my atelier in contact with fres...

X Faction Soldiers

Image
JC Axe is an author currently living in Australia. He is working on a dystopian serial called " X Faction Soldiers " , among a few other projects. We have conducted an interview with him. Why are you writing a dystopian serial? How challenging is it? When writing a dystopia, it is important to parallel the times we currently live in. It can be quite difficult to create a world which is radically different from our own, but at the same time, is a credible foreshadowing of the future. I think one of the biggest challenges with writing a dystopia is balancing the horror of a world gone to hell, whilst maintaining the spirit that a better world is still worth fighting for. What is the political warning you want to extend with your writing? I don’t know, I’m just the writer! It’s up to the readers to decide for themselves what –if any- message the serial portrays. I’m happy for people to make up their own minds about what political message X Faction Sol...

What is your approach to your Photography work? I love what I do and work very hard to make it be the best it can possibly be. So my official motto is 'work hard, do good work and have as much fun as possible in the process!' How do you work with light and what kind of photography do you enjoy making most? Because my style is very natural looking, I always start with available light. However the light is always modified and it and often supplemented with strobe. Donald B McFarlane is a Sci-Fi author from London. He is writing a space opera sci-fi series, The Earth Saga . We have conducted an interview with him. What is your current space opera sci-fi series, The Earth Saga about? The Earth Saga Series tells the story of humanity coming into contact with a far more advanced alien civilization. The story follows both human and alien characters as they attempt to come to terms with the various implications that stem from this clash of cultures. How did you craft the characters in your series? I’ve shaped the human characters around people from my past. Some liberties have been taken, but the main character, Joe, is based on an old army buddy and his character is a very good likeness to the real-life Joe. Which elements of military/space opera sci-fi do you enjoy reading/writing the most? I only read non-fiction, ironically, and prefer military history. When it comes to writing, I try to base my fictional universe in as re...

Babies small as 500 grams, need soft, loose clothing, without indevendig befitting that can bother the delicate and sensitive skin. The clothing must also be easily and quickly opened, should there be an emergency. It should also be readily available for any hoses and wires. The clothes must be like to be a little too big, so it is comfortable for the premature, to wear. What special fabric do you use and what considerations are important when deciding which material to use for premature babies? I only use soft fabrics such as cotton Jersey, flannel and fleece. I focus on that it is comfortable to wear for the preterm. In my col...

Drobo

Image
Mihir H. Shah is the CEO of Drobo , an innovative storage company that focuses on consumers, prosumers and small and medium businesses. We have conducted an interview with him. When should users embark on 'Smart Storage' systems and what are the underlying issues with existing 'non-smart' storage solutions? Technology has become so complex over the last decade and managing this complexity has taken away our most valuable commodity as humans: Time. Drobo manufactures smart storage systems that eliminates the complexity of data storage. It’s easy to set up and use. For example, a mother who needs a device to store all of her family pictures and videos, does not have time to configure a storage system. Or a small business owner, who can’t afford a full time IT person to manage her business’s storage environment. Other products in our category are extremely difficult to set up and use and they are not flexible. Disk drives are a hassle to install, ...

Interview with Antonio Amodio

Image
Antonio Amodio is from Foggia, a town in Southern Italy. His dream is to be a writer. We have conducted an interview with him. How do you craft the characters in your stories? To put together a good character crafting system is no easy task. Actually it's the hardest one in my opinion, because good stories live and survive only when supported by strong and very down-to-earth characters. They don't need to be special. They could be weak, insignificant, even cowardly, but they have to be coherent above all. It's coherence that makes them real. Coherence is the soul of my crafting system, without it there aren't many appropriate characters good enough to set up a story with. The system I've been adopting so far is not perfect, but surely gets its job done. It took me six years to make it steady and efficient and still there's room for improvements, obviously. I always put family ties in first place. Mankind means relationships, lots of them, for no man...

Well I have always had a love for Southern rock, country, blues and old East Memphis music and when it came to creating this record I had to include some element of each one. I listened to all these genres growing up and how I discovered this blend was simply getting out there and doing the creative process of everything I love. What are the key musical elements in songwriting for the country and rock genre? Lol I wish I knew the answer to that one but I would just say as an artist keep it real to you and your live act! Interview with Joey Mannarino

Image
Joey Mannarino is a radio personality from Philadelphia. We have conducted an interview with him. What was the weirdest moment you have ever encountered as a radio personality? There have been a few weird moments, but that many. The one that sticks out to me is when I got a caller about a year ago, and he said he was a drug dealer and told me exactly where he was and what drugs he was selling. He told me to tell all my listeners where to find him so he could make some money. I would bet anything that it was a prank, but who knows? People are crazy. Other than that, I have wonderful moments and cherish them all. What are your views about indie artists vs those signed to a label? It’s two completely different ball games. Obviously, the signed artists have a major advantage over the independent artists as far as radio goes. Their songs gets serviced to every single station, every single time. It’s not hard to push your music out when you’re on a major label. The differen...
