Lilia Postu Which is your favorite art tool/media? Why and which artist(s) inspire you to use "this tool" in your own artwork at the very first time? One of my favorite art tools for painting are brushes of different sizes, I also like to use a spatula to create some kind of texture or strokes. It all depends on the size of the painting and the scene I intend to draw.  One of my favorite abstract artists is Claire Desjerdins. unique bright paintings created by large brains with a spatula became a great inspiration for me, so I decided to use this tool in my works The paints that I usually paint are acrylic, oil, watercolors. All are different but each...

Five Ways Medicine Will Improve in the Future

Image
Medicine has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years. The most obvious change has been in terms of how long we live for, but there are other notable changes too, such as our quality of life, the amount of pain that people go through, and suchlike. Yet we have not reached a plateau; there are likely to be further improvements, and the following are the ways in which medicine is likely to improve further over the next few years. Funding One of the ways that medicine may improve is through greater funding. As insurance providers diversify their offerings and greater investment flows in from the likes of China overseas, it is likely that there will be more money in research which improves drugs, cures for cancer, and of course, vaccines. Hospitals can be built, and more money can go to institutions, which means that professors can spend more of their time coming up with new inventions for medicine and new drugs, rather than on teaching students to fund their research. Greater cooperati...

Interview with artist Ale Osollo

Image
Ale Osollo was born in Chihuahua (Mexico) in 1979. Her childhood, adolescence and youth were spent in a society bursting with Mexican customs and traditions. In her mind and spirit dwells the magical fantasy that has accompanied her in dreams since she was a child. Art gave Ale the outlet to capture this other world using materials that were within her reach at the time - such as vegetables or fruit from the refrigerator and even toilet paper. Today, her works are narratives, rich in symbolism that draw on heritage. Artist: Ale Osollo What is important in an artist's attitude towards art that makes the piece of art outstanding?  When creating an artwork, I become a part of the piece. I leave the noise of the everyday behind and concentrate on the here and now. I am present. I feel it. One of the best experiences is immersing my hands in whichever material I am working with at the time. I enjoy the sensation of handling a piece of clay, for example. Like a blank canvas, it's not...

Luke MacBride is a Canadian Photographer based in Accra, Ghana. He has lived and worked in New York City, Valencia Spain, Toronto Ontario and Shanghai China. He traveled to over 70 countries in the past 20 years and he always has his camera at his side. We conducted a short interview with him. In which ways does travel impact on your photography?  Traveling is a must for me. It may not be for everyone, but it gives me perspective on people and the world in general. I take a lot of pictures and when I look back at them over the years I usually remember how I felt at that moment and who I was with at the time. In some ways it helps create a type of narrative for my life. I don’t think of my photography as something static, but rather as an ongoing story of how we slowly change and evolve as individuals if that makes any sense.  Taking photographs on different continents or of different cultures is exciting. Every place I go I feel like I catch a glimpse of what life’s like for t...
