Image
Ali Gorson-Marrow is an 18 year old published author/college student from outside Philadelphia. With her 21 year old co-author they wrote a book named " The Castles of the Great Assimil Unearthed ". We have conducted an interview with her. What inspires you the most from your novel "The Castles of the Great Assimil Unearthed"? I was inspired to write The Castles of the Great Assimil Unearthed when I heard the heart breaking stories of young children in Africa. Who is Assimil and what kind of character did he possess?  Assimil is a young 8 year old boy living in Burkina Faso. He possesses a relatable childish approach to situations while at the same time having to maintain a mature and calm demeanor. Why is it important to craft your key character of your novel as such?   It is important for Assimil to be mature and immature because on one hand, he is only a young child but on the other hand, he is in a situation that forces one to be mat...

THE NIGHT OF ELISA

Image
Isis Sousa is an illustrator and writer. We have conducted an interview with her about her book THE NIGHT OF ELISA – which she has not only written but also illustrated. What inspires you to illustrate and write in Dark / Gothic Fiction? I have always been attracted to the darker and fantastic aspects of the arts. And with literature, it could be no different. I think Dark Fiction in general evokes a lot of one’s imagination and it helps one to face his fears or deal with difficult things in life. And Gothic Fiction expands the fantastic within the dark spectrum. So writing and illustrating those genres comes naturally for me. I feel “at home”. Why did you choose to use Characters and Ornaments pencil sketches for "The Night of Elisa"'s interior design? As someone who make a living as illustrator , I have a passion for illustrated books. So, whenever I publish a book, it HAS to be illustrated. For ‘TNOE’, adding ornaments help readers to have a sense of ...

What do you usually like to document with photography? Because my photography began in dark rooms I came to photography through art school practise – drawing, painting and sculpture, my degree course offered photography and I became interested in playing around in their dark rooms and experimenting with film and black and white film processing. I was interested in the aesthetics of an image of how a photograph can steal a moment or lead the viewer to think about a story that the photograph portrays - I had always been concerned with the "inbetween moment".  ...

UNDISCOVERED TELEVISION (UTV)

Image
Undiscovered Television as heard on Jazz FM and on all fine internet stations, are a post-jazz quartet based in London. They specialise in accessible but intelligent and emotional postjazz. We have conducted an interview with them. What is emotional post jazz? I think the phrase used about us was "accessible intelligent and emotional post jazz" which I agree with. I think music is an emotional experience for musicians and listeners alike, even if the emotion is disgust! We are not trying to shock anyone out of their middle class complacency but we are not Muzac either. Hopefully this is a soundtrack to an HBO mini series waiting for you (dear listener) to star in. Hence: Undiscovered Television. How do you feel having your album "Gypsy In a High Rise" voted as No.1 summer album? The Kings of Spin voted us No.1 on their chart, which is fantastic news; to say how I feel, I feel like this album has legs and needs to have more exposure, before I can fe...

We have conducted an interview with Christopher. What inspires you to want to retrace your great grandfather's steps in his memoir? I never met Thomas Tileston Wells, my great grandfather – he died thirteen years before I was born. In order to understand more about him and what he had written about his extraordinary journey, I felt it was necessary for me to follow in his footsteps and see for myself what he had seen over a century ago. In his memoir, he wrote that “Riva is one of the most beautiful places in the world.” I had to see it for myself and, after seeing with it, I agree with Wells. How did you arri...

However, after two hernia operations and a few other issues, playing the trombone became painful and wasn’t fun anymore. Music is late nights for gigs and rehearsals, with two little girls photography is a much better fit in my life. How do you decide on your choice of photography subjects? Prophecy Child Series

Image
Katie Epstein is an author of paranormal and fantasy romance novels from the United Kingdom. Her new book will be released in September this year. We have conducted an interview with her. What makes you suited to write in the paranormal and fantasy romance genres? My imagination. It has to be. It is something that both entertained and terrified me as a child—depending on what popped into my head—and it seemed to have no limits. When characters form in my mind they come as they are with no apologies for their background, challenges or species. They have a story to tell and there are times when I have no choice but to tell it. Paranormal and fantasy romance genres give me more leverage to do this, and broaden the scope of worlds and adventures those characters can escape into. It’s interesting to form new societies, worlds or relationships, and see them have the same challenges and issues we boring old humans have from time to time. There are also a lot more sides you can add...

Super Speed Sam

Image
Monty J McClaine is a new independent author who has written twelve short stories, the Christmas special being a little longer than the others, about a small family who have a very loving and precious dog. We have conducted an interview with Monty. Why did you write 'Super Speed Sam' series in the format of 12-books? The first Super Speed Sam book was actually “Kitchen Decorations” where I was hoping to allow the reader into the imaginary world of the main character Sam the dog. In effect I was thinking of having two stories running in parallel, the main or human story, along with the imaginary story of Sam. So for instance, when chocolate was being added to the cake mix, in Sam’s mind, the chocolate would be substituted by bones, although Sam does enjoy chocolate. I then decided to extend Sam’s capabilities to include “Super Speed” and with that, the character of Sam the dog took shape. The addition of allowing Sam to call upon special abilities, like Doctor,...

Image
Our guest tonight is Joyce Kostakis, author of Walk-In Investigations: A Paranormal Detective Novel . We have conducted an interview with her about her new book. How long did you take to write your recent novel? I had the idea bouncing around in my head for a few years. Once I put pen to paper or rather fingers to the keyboard it took about one year. In your opinion as the author, which is the is the most thrilling event in "Walk-In Investigations: A Paranormal Detective Novel"? The lead Character Detective Katie Hanson channels murder victims for clues in solving their murder. What Katie did not realize was the channeled spirit could highjack her body. The story makes an abrupt twist when Katie’s is unable to return to her body, and she is forced to share the body of her psychic friend as they race against time to not only solve the case but retrieve her body. Why did you choose this title? The title describes the process of what happens when ...
