In which special circumstances did you first figure out that your art book could be use as a weapon to battle anxiety? On some level, I think I’ve always dealt with anxiety through art, even when I was very young. Emotions are often complex and confusing, so making them into imagery seems to lift the veil,...

Faces on the Ferry - Interview with illustrator Rachelle Meyer

Image
Rachelle Meyer is an American illustrator living in Amsterdam, specializing in children's books and storytelling. In 2017, she started sketching fellow commuters on the NDSM ferry in a tiny sketchbook. It's a short but sweet trip of about 12 minutes, connecting her home in Amsterdam Noord with her studio in the center of town. Rachelle wants to launch a parallel career as an independent artist alongside her work as an illustrator for hire. We have conducted an interview with her about her Faces on the Ferry project . How exactly did you get inspired to start your multimedia art project? I went to the Frankfurt Book Fair in the fall of 2016. I was meeting publishers there, and between appointments, I would draw people sitting around the wi-fi spots in the building. The people I was drawing all looked like me – white, European descent. I thought it seemed awfully homogeneous for the largest international book fair in the world! So I made it a project to find differen...

Image
Buying academic papers is a moral gray area for many students, but it doesn’t have to be. While buying academic papers is not illegal, many schools and universities in the United States see it as a form of cheating or plagiarism. However, if you use the paper as a resource, guide, or general example, it is not plagiarism -- as long as you cite all of your sources. Below are some of the best reasons why a student might want to buy an academic paper. Also, examples of how to use paid-for papers, without plagiarizing, are also given. 1. Easy to Follow Template While it is cheating to simply buy a paper online and submit it as your own work, there is nothing wrong with using a paid-for paper as a template for your own paper. This is a great use of bought academic papers if you are confused about the formatting your paper should be in, how the topics should be organized, or even which headings to use. These are all things that don’t even need to be cited since it does not requir...

CSRF Threats: Protecting Your Data

Image
Most of us are aware of the blatant attempts to take control of our computers such as pop up ads and emails from those we don’t know but every so often there is a massive worm or hacker scare. It becomes apparent when these events occur how little we know about our electronic defenses and what to look out for. By understanding even a small percentage of these types of attacks, we can be more aware and prepare for their eventual appearance. XSS or Cross-site scripting is the most common form. Typically found in web applications, XSS is responsible for about eighty-four percent of all security vulnerabilities (according to Symantec). Cross-site scripting allows attackers to inject client-side scripts into web pages which are viewed, essentially completely unnoticed. Perhaps an even greater threat is the frequently overlooked and therefore more covert CSRF (Cross Site Request Forgery). Due to the attention received by XSS attacks, CSRFs have become more attractive to those desiring to ob...
