DR ISIDOR - Interview with Dr. Miroslav Sarac
Behind DR ISIDOR is two people; Dr. Miroslav Sarac and Kelly Russell. They both have a great degree of experience and skills in Apothecary, Perfumery and Aromatherapy. We have conducted an interview with Dr. Sarac, who is a Retired university professor of pathophysiology and pharmacology due to severe disability (blindness, deafness and impaired balance), homebound due to disability, but active and making every day different and productive.
Who are behind “Dr. Isidor Apothecary”?
Behind Dr. Isidor Apothecary are two people; Dr. Miroslav Sarac, M.S., Ph.D., D.D. and Kelly Russell, B.S., Certified Aromatherapist. They both have a great degree of experience and skills in the ancient, traditional and contemporary apothecary, perfumery and aromatherapy.
Dr. Sarac is a retired university professor of pathology/pathophysiology and pharmacology due to severe disability (blindness, deafness and impaired balance), homebound due to disability, but active and making every day different and very productive. Despite his disability, he is passionate to share information that will help others hold on to their health and life, appreciate their life and health, not to take their life for granted, and age gracefully and wisely every day as our ancestors without harmful chemicals. He was born and raised in Europe in a multicultural environment, specifically, Balkan Peninsula where he was exposed to the varieties and multicultural nature, rich folklore, ethnobotany and pharmacognosy of the Mediterranean region.
Dr. Sarac holds a baccalaureate degree in biology, master and doctoral degree in pathology/ pathophysiology and six-years of extended postdoctoral fellowship with over 30 years of intensive laboratory work experience. He carries multiple national and international certifications in healthcare and biomedical sciences as well as certifications in cosmetic rehabilitation therapy. He used to teach pathology/pathophysiology and pharmacology for all healthcare professional, med. school students, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, pharmacy students, residents in medicine and pharmacy.
For almost 30 years he has been a researcher and collector of the traditional and ancient apothecary and perfumery formulas, skin care formulas based on folklore and ethnology of the Mediterranean region of the southern Europe. He was exposed to the original sources and resources of the ancient and natural apothecary and perfumery.
He designed and formulated a potent 100% pure natural preservative for the skin care products with outstanding antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
Kelly Russell is the second person in the company Dr. Isidor Apothecary. Mr. Kelly Russell has over 40 years of experience in the herbal and folklore, aromatherapy, herbal and natural remedies and their formulations and that same driving desire to help people. Kelly holds a bachelor's degree in Agriculture, minors in chemistry and microbiology.
Why are there 2 people behind this name?
Dr. Miroslav Sarac and Mr. Kelly Russell collaborate to produce the best products; the products of the highest quality and efficacy, properly designed, formulated and compounded. Dr. Sarac is highly trained in laboratory practices and formulation techniques. Mr. Russell is skilled in healing and techniques in using spices and plant material in aiding the body to heal itself. Both are rooted in ancient ways and modern techniques and analysis to produce superior products.
Please share with us more about Dr. Sarac and his background expertise. Dr. Sarac was educated in Europe and did his postdoctoral fellowship in Louisiana, the U.S.A. When he became, disabled and was no longer allowed to teach we moved. It has been a long road back to productivity. Where is Dr. Isidor Apothecary located?
We are located in the mountains of the north Georgia in the little town of Ellijay. Surrounded by the nature and we live in a national forest and have a variety of wildlife that visits our property. We simply like woodland style of living and life and we are reconnected with the nature. It is this inspiration that keeps us looking to the nature to better lives of our clients as well as our lives. We are able to grow organically most of our ingredients or to harvest in the deep wilderness.
What is produced at the Apothecary?
We produce a variety of products, for ages from newborns to seniors. We have an excellent variety of 100% natural facial, hand/body skincare and haircare products, as well as 100% natural perfumes and scented perfume oils. In our design of the natural skin care products and natural perfumes we use traditional and ancient techniques and methods, however, still Dr. Sarac is taking seriously into consideration the new research results of cosmetic sciences, toxicology, ethnobotany, pharmacognosy and cosmetovigilance. How was Dr. Isidor Academy started?
Everyone wants to know how we produce such high-quality products, so after some debate we decided to open an academy for training in natural perfumery and natural skincare products proper and high quality of design, formulation and compounding. We decided to do it different than most of the classes we have attended over the years or see online. As you know Dr. Sarac was a university professor; in his career, he developed and delivered over 20+ courses at different level of education from baccalaureate degree to the postdoctoral level in-class and distance - online. All our courses are at the college level and are on a timeline and teacher guided with intensive mentorship. However, we are offering so-called Do-It-Yourself courses as well, specifically designed for people who want to make natural skin care products in their household and kitchen. What is the academy mission?

Which are some of the applications and practice of the courses at the Academy upon completion?
Upon completion, our students are well versed and skilled in the art and science of the proper natural skin care products formulation and natural perfumery without producing possible harmful effects for their clients. They are able to produce products the proper way for themselves, friends and family and even open their own business. If they desire they could produce their own product line or perhaps work for any one of numerous companies that produce products that they were trained in. The mentorship is available even after course, if a student requires. Also, some students are interested in producing a specific line of the products, we offer that kind of so-called specifically designed and tailored courses. As you are aware 100% all natural/organic products are on the rise. It has taken a long time for the public to become knowledgeable about organic food.
