Interview with Arturo Alvarez-Demalde

Tonight our guest is a venture capitalist and private equity expert Arturo Alvarez-Demalde. A Harvard Business School graduate, Alvarez-Demalde brings years of practical experience along with specific expertise in financial structuring. He has developed a longstanding reputation as an accomplished leader in his field. We have conducted an interview with him.


What is your background and expertise? How did you become so successful on the International scale?
My expertise is in venture capital and private equity, particularly with regard to issues concerning valuation, due diligence, mergers, LBO, and financial structuring. My background features a wealth of experience in both the private and non-profit sectors, including a previous role with Siemens AG in Germany. My professional expertise also involves marketing principles and strategies, especially as it relates to collaborative marketing strategies.

As for my success on the international scale, I believe part of the reason for this is my vast experience in study abroad programs; my sense of curiosity regarding other cultures; and my passion for developing an understanding of foreign languages. As a result, I have been able to build an extensive professional network that spans the globe.

What is Leadgate and what did you do there?
Leadgate is a marketing firm that seeks unique client opportunities and aims to operate on a truly international scale. My responsibilities with the company included the evaluation of potential investments and the development of new marketing strategies, but for the most part my professional role typically revolved around my specific areas of expertise in due diligence, financial structuring, valuation, and mergers.

How does your role as an advisory committee member with Harvard University’s David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies help you in your business?
In addition to keeping me informed regarding pertinent issues concerning educational opportunities in Latin America, my role with the advisory committee has allowed me to accomplish a great deal of good for a region that enabled me to pursue my own academic and professional goals. My work on the advisory committee is not intended to yield any specific benefit to my business, but there are certainly a number of positive outcomes associated with my efforts with the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies.

How does research help you to obtain your first clients?
We utilize a number of proprietary analytical tools to identify potential clients that stand to gain the most from utilizing the specific strategies we offer. We can then present our findings directly to the client in order to demonstrate precisely how our firm intends to generate exceptional results capable of positively altering the trajectory of a business for years to come.

What kind of collaborative marketing strategies is the most useful?
My colleagues and I believe that successful marketing begins with a tailored approach in which we develop a specific strategy that is designed to yield the best possible outcome for the client in question. While there are certainly collaborative marketing strategies we rely on more than others, we also understand that there is no figurative “silver bullet” when it comes to collaborative marketing. This is why we spend so much time and energy researching the specific needs of our clients and developing a highly individualized strategy based on every last bit of information we have at our disposal.
