Mapwize is an indoor mapping software platform: it is the perfect extension to traditional outdoor maps (like “Google Maps” for example). With Mapwize, you can visualize interior building floorplans with any device (Smartphone, Tablet, PC...). We have conducted an interview with the developers.
When and why have you been developing this indoor mapping software platform?
We founded the company in 2014 with the vision that indoor mapping was a mature need for most organizations because of the combination of smartphone revolution and beacon technology availability. We rely so much on GPS these days. We just pull out our smartphones, punch in an address, and off we go! We know exactly where to drive. But GPS only helps get us there, not find our way around once inside. Especially in big stores or buildings with lots of aisles or floors, it can be like navigating a maze. Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was a better way? That the reason we created Mapwize, the app for guiding visitors inside every building. Never get lost again!
How does Mapwize work?
Building owners simply copy their floor plan into the Mapwize platform, drag and drop points-of-interest like shops, products, rooms, and equipment, then hit “publish.” It’s that easy. Visitors download the free Mapwize app, then do a quick search. Instantly, they get optimal directions across multiple floors and multiple buildings. It’s just like having GPS indoors. And Mapwize contains thousands of floor plans, so there’s no need to use a different app for each building. Moreover, building owners can protect their floor plans with access codes, so they can have totally private content on the platform. Most of our customers uses this feature to have multiples versions of floor plans depending on the user profile: visitors, workers, security agents.
What are the main benefits?

Organizations publishing maps on Mapwize can access very useful analytics: number of visitors, busiest areas, specific routes preferred by clients, and much more. Mapwize, allows organizations to help them interact directly with their visitors/customers.
Content can be personalized based on user profiles and specific promotions/activities can be suggested based on user’s location. Gathered information is immediately forwarded to the organization, along with user’s profile, triggering specific processes.
