Expressionist painter David Tycho

Image
David Tycho was born in Vancouver and graduated from the University of British Columbia, where he studied painting under renowned Canadian artist Gordon Smith. For the past 30 years, David’s painting has straddled the genres of abstraction and representation, at times more experimental and intuitive and at other times more reflective of his surroundings. His works are inspired by subjects ranging from pristine wilderness areas, to urban sprawl, to the people he encounters along the way. Tycho has exhibited his work in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Geneva, Brussels, Zurich, Singapore, Manila, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, and his paintings are collected worldwide. Where do you get your inspiration from? Do you prefer more abstract art?  I am very affected and inspired by extreme environments. In recent years these have ranged from the pristine wilderness areas of western North America to the congested urban centres of New York and Tokyo. It’s the in-between or transitiona...

Brooke Henzell’s Musical Evolution in an International Journey

Image
The epitome of art would be a world in which the artist is allowed to create and speak from their perspective without the public or the industry attempting to impose a label on that artist. Caloundra, Queensland, Australia native Brooke Henzell is contributing greatly to the advancement of this without purposefully taking up this flag. She’s a modern artist who openly seeks out deviation from any formulaic approach to her music; it’s this course which continues to bring new fans to Henzell’s work. From appearances in her home country on major events such as Chanel 7’s Televised Christmas Carols (which averages nearly ¼ of the television viewership in Australia), as the lead singer of the band M Factor, or her performances in New York, Brooke’s enchanting vocals and songs have made her an international sensation while also confirming that she is a deep writer. Getting in the Room with Guitarist Danny McKinnon

Image
Danny McKinnon doesn’t care much for labeling musical genres, even though he has a Grammy with a label/genre printed on it. While confirming that he’s proud to have this acknowledgement, it’s not the end goal for him as he states, “I think the biggest achievement is getting in the room with really talented people and being able to create with them. Once you’re in that room, nobody cares how many awards you have; they just want you to bring something special to the music.” It’s this type of pure artistic aspiration that many of the most successful musicians point to as the possible resurrection of the music community and industry. McKinnon has earned the biggest awards and played some of the most iconic live music venues in the world yet he confirms that every day and every new project is a fresh opportunity to prove his artistic merit, one which he excitedly welcomes. Filmmaker Nanako Fukui on Giving Voice to Love in Between the Sun and Me

Image
The Arts are the great equalizer. Talent supersedes all. Additionally, that talent leads to a diversity in life experiences which results in an insightful perspective which can inform others. While diversity within the individuals actually telling these stories has not always been present in filmmaking, present day offers an increasing number of unique voices. Japanese filmmaker Nanako Fukui most often dons the role of producer but for the film Between the Sun and Me she took on the roles of writer and director as well; that’s because this film comes from an experience in her own youth and stepping into this trio of duties was the most accurate and efficient way of relating the story she knew well. Of course, it was also the most taxing; an obstacle that did not deter Fukui in her pursuit of relating this love story within a culture that looks unfavorably on it. While every genre of film has a multitude of productions presenting themes like war, justice, and love, Between the Sun and ...

Roman Medjanov of RockBridge Productions: Continuing a Path of Exceptionalism

Image
Careers in the entertainment industry are built one project at a time. Longevity requires taking chances and stretching into areas that are unexpected, perhaps even unintuitive in the minds of others. This is as accurate a description of San Francisco based RockBridge Productions as for any actor, director, or other professional in the industry. Started by Mike Kaney, Chris Miller, and Bryan Fong in 2011, RockBridge Productions is currently led by Roman Medjanov whose consistent pursuit of eclectic projects has continually proven the company to be a leader amongst its peers. Located at the edge of the Silicon Valley tech hub, RockBridge Productions is w...

Image
The undying fascination of Anant Singh with the dynamics and beauty of art finally took form of a 'Post Modern Art house' named 'Anant' (A sanskrit word for Infinity) which he started in March-2020 in the city of Jaipur (India). With 24 karat gold leaf/color as their niche they created an art architecture where folk, traditional & tribal art forms can be sensibly and sensitively positioned in the global market. We have conducted an interview with Anant Singh. What is so special about your 24 Karat Gold Leaf? The really special part about 24 Karat Gold Leaf is the elemental richness it provides to our artworks. Gold not only has a cultural significance throughout history but it also has an investment value. Once you include 24 Karat Gold as an art medium it enriches and provides a whole new dimension to an art piece. Besides this, most cultures consider gold to be an auspicious metal and is believed to bring luck, harmony and prosperity. Therefore, inco...
