Eddie's, the latest bar themed show

Bars seem to be a part of the American tradition on television. From the day Marshall Matt Dillon sauntered into the Dodge City saloon to say hello to Miss Kitty ( Gunsmoke ), viewers have accepted the bar as an appropriate setting through the decades. Of course, the setting is rarely what dictates the subject of the story. Numerous critically and publically lauded TV programs have embraced the bar and the upcoming series Eddie’s does so with its own twist. The brainchild of writer Alex Scrymgeour, Eddie’s presents a dynamic which is perhaps not so intuitive in current times; an aspect makes it all the more enjoyable for the viewer. This already award-winning collection, Travel Mahjong City, combines Hong Kong heritage with modern art design to provide a wide range of contemporary products with creative illustrations related to Hong Kong culture, is now featured in a pop-up store at Hong Kong’s K11 from Friday to Sunday during 28 September to 21 October. The products highlights the value of mahjong craftsmanship while explaining Hong Kong’s traditional ways of making hand-carved mahjong tiles. Hong Kong brand, ‘Travel Mahjong City’, is a collaboration between three Hong Kong artisans: Karen Aruba, an illustrator, and two designers, Connie Siu & Maggie Cheung. Filmmaking is one of the most celebrated artforms. However, unlike a painting or photograph, it takes an incredibly large team of talented people to make it a masterpiece. Cynthia Chen knows this well. When a film is done shooting, the footage is raw and looks pale, and as a colorist, it is her job to fix that. She ensures that every single shot in each scene matches one another by balancing color saturation and luminance from shot to shot. She applies different color styles to the whole picture for different contents based on their stories, characters, emotion and themes. For Chen, the suite is like a magic room; she can turn a day scene into a night scene, enhance and switch the emotions by using the different color palettes, help to finish the lighting tasks that can’t be done on the real set, assist the director to emphasize the atmosphere and feelings.
