Sebastian Ravitz is a 24 years old entrepreneur from Los Angeles. He has been riding the entrepreneurial rollercoaster for about 5 years now, having worked for startups that promised equity, but never received it - and all of those commom entrepreurial challenges. He successfully launched his own company when he was 21. It was a digital marketing agency that has now helped companies from stage 1, all the way to 10xing their monthly revenue. We have conducted an interview with Sebastian. Which is the most difficult entrepreneurial challenge you had ever experienced? The most difficult entrepreneurial challenge is actually coming to terms with what being an entrepreneur encompasses. While incredibly fulfilling, you’re also faced with so many obstacles that aren’t just a one-time battle. For me the most recurrent was self-doubt, especially early in my career. I was constantly questioning whether or not I had it in me. I knew deep down I did, but the doubt in the back of my min...

JOSH KIESER HAS US ASKING, WHAT’S IN THE WATER DOWN THERE?

Image
Australia’s Josh Kieser is happy about all of the press and awards he has been getting for his acting roles in the past few years. In spite of this, he hasn’t experienced a whirlwind life change in regards to perspective; a fact he contributes to his family and childhood growing up on the Sunshine Coast. Kieser has received tremendous accolades for his strong empathetic performances as a number of conflicted and troubled men, the dichotomy when compared to his personal life is stark. Affable and quick to make a joke, Josh typically delivers the quiet and smoldering performances attributed to James Dean, Benecio Del Toro, and the like. This statement reflects more about Kieser’s charisma on screen than a specific role. Spending time at home with his many siblings and parents with school in Brisbane, Josh often remarks of the pleasantness of his early years stating, “It was beautiful, fun, coastal life with lots of activities all the time. I always involved myself in as much as ...

ALAN DELAVAN KNOWS WE STARTED SOMETHING

Image
For Alan Delavan, being focused on himself is a good thing. That’s not to imply that this singer/songwriter is vapid in any way but rather that he looks for the value within instead of searching for reassurance by assimilation. It’s not a common approach for those in the music business but neither is the self-imposed solace that Delavan leads at times. There’s no way to completely shut the outside world off and in the song “ We Started Something ” Alan takes an uncommon (for him) opportunity to comment on it. Still, in doing so he always comes from a unique perspective with a personal tone. It’s immediately apparent that he is not writing music to sell sodas or automobiles. You won’t hear autotune or an 808 kick drum in “We Started Something” but what will be heard is the human fingerprint in both the instrumentation and the message of it. Delavan connects with exterior factors and channels a particular way of expression yet always with authenticity. He relates, “For me, music and art...

Interview with jazz vocalist Fiona Ross

Image
Fiona Ross is a Jazz vocalist, pianist, composer and music producer based in London. Her new album, 'Black, White and a Little Bit of Grey', explores the story of a husband, a wife, and a mistress: a web of emotions, of desires, of regrets, of ecstasy. We have conducted an interview with Fiona. photo credit: Alexander Barnes-Ross In your new album, 'Black, White and a Little Bit of Grey', which particular track is one of your personal favorite?  I don’t have any personal favourite’s I’m afraid, they all mean something different to me in different ways. So ‘Busy…..Always Busy’ and ‘Touch Me, You Make Me Feel So’ for example, are really fun to sing and have an easy groove to go along with so I like performing those without having to get too deeply emotionally involved. I think ‘The Evidence Suggests’ is the hardest one to sing, as vocally as it is quite challenging with the range of notes I have to hit and it is a song that shows a wide range of emotions. The...

EMBRACING WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE HATED…ON SCREEN

Image
Canadian actor PJ Johal is an affable and charming person. It’s disturbing to watch him as Farid Singh in “The Guard.” It’s almost like seeing someone’s evil twin. Statements like this during an interview cause Johal to smile, which is disconcerting in its own way due to his portrayal of Singh. The duplicitous character in this Canadian drama series is someone whom most viewers would find despicable, which again makes the actor smile. Being so pleasant in his personal life and so menacing on screen means that he is doing his job properly.  An actor must believe that the evil intentions of their character are based in as much truth and reality as the inclination in helping or saving someone. The difference is that one is insane but the character only judges logical actions/reasoning within the given circumstances of the character’s life and environment. “The Guard” is a Canadian television production about the heroic men and women of the Canadian Coast Guard…and heroes need a villain. ...
