Interview with artist Gus

Image
Gus was born in a small village in the north of Spain but now he lives in the Balearic Islands. Since he was very young, photography and art have always attracted him, he grew up seeing and reading books and works of great artists; Cartier-Bresson, Adams, magnificent impressionist painters. Who influences your art and photographic style? It is difficult to specify, perhaps the greatest influence is from my youth and see the books that were in my house of great artists, Cartier-Breson, Van Gogh, Picasso, Dali ... and many others, was an encyclopedia that my parents had and I saw again and again and I imagined doing or creating these imaginary worlds or those magnificent photographs. My readings, documentaries or things that I see in my reality and the world around me, also lead me to imagine things that I try to represent. How did you start painting? What led you to the fine arts? I started painting at school as a child, it was a compulsory subject, but I was ver...

Currently continuing freelance activities developing iPhone/Android apps and creating CG. Masaki Hirokawa There is a saying: 'eyes are the window to the soul'. Why are women in your art pieces with 'closed eyes'? I realize that we have entered an era in which we need to look within. I am a non-denominationalist, but I believe that God exists within, not outside of man, and it is important to notice the happiness within ourselves, rather than looking for happiness outside.  It is really painful to think of the victims of this epidemic, but I can't help but think that this is an important message for human beings. I believe that we have entered an important stage of awakening for all people, a process of introspection.  I have also been told for a long time that my right eye sees what I cannot see. Act...

Make your room more charming and attractive with Waterlilies.

Image
How to do it without real waterlilies?  Empty walls are not attractive and exciting, to say with other words - "it is dull." One of the variants, how to improve this, and make the wall more attractive and bright, is to put up new wallpaper with depicted waterlilies. But such an operation requires tons of time or enough money to hire a repairer and to buy materials. You will need to change the wallpaper in the whole room; the co-altered look of only a small part of a wall will be gruesome. If you don't want to waste money and time repairing the whole room, then hanging painting or print with waterlilies would be a perfect solution. Painting VS Print - what is better? What is better: painting or print, depends on your budget and ambitions. Of cause quality of a hand made art is always better than printed on canvas, even if print made of high-quality materials. The price of well-painted reproduction could be from 90 dollars and up to 500 dollars. The modern ...

She lived in Paris for a decade - exploring Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, eventually settling back in the US, in San Diego, CA. Ellen's work is constantly growing and evolving. Her organic compositions capture the ephemeral vitality of modern life. Who inspires you to create this 'Women Series" in the first place? How did you begin?  The first female figures I ever drew were when I was young, maybe 8, and would copy the Sunday Funnies. Later, in art school, Life Drawing classes almost always had a woman model for us to draw. Since then I have continued to sit in on life drawing sessions and I gravitate toward the female figure. As a woman, I re...
