Rate a Busker - interview

Image
Rate a Busker is an exciting project about collecting and rating street performers. We have conducted an interview with Matt about this UK based initiative: What had inspired you to create this site? What is special about it? I live in the heart of the old town in Hastings,England and this bohemian enclave is home to a fantastic array of polarizing Buskers. You cant walk down George street without being bathed in the sound of Guitars,Drums,Harmonica or even didgeridoos! There are some amazing and talented musicians here along side those not so talented, so to separate the wheat from the chaff, Rate a Busker was born. In the midst of setting up this site, what do you think the people will be interested in watching and rating them? I think that people will want to see their musician friends on the site and hopefully offer supported comments and ratings. Its also cool to look for your home town and listen out for anyone you recognize. I've got a feeling that, huma...

Thrillscape 3D - Interview with Shola Lawrence

Image
Shola Lawrence is an entrepreneur and the Managing Director of Thrillscape 3D/ Thrillscape Ltd in London. We have conducted a short interview with her: What kind of turnkey solutions does Thrillscape provide? Can you give some examples? Thrillscape offers a complete service, from helping customers make the right choice with regard to product (3D glasses are available with different optical technologies, for instance), special production requirements such as custom - printing, adding sales vouchers to card - based frames, and so on, and then arranging manufacturing and delivery, including insurance costs, etc, to the customer’s address. All aspects are managed by Thrillscape: hence our slogan that ’You place the order, we do the rest’. An example of this was the supply of 3D glasses to a major telecoms corporation in Portugal, where the product was required for a major PR launch event. How popular are 3D fireworks glasses as compared to the normal 3D glasses which ...

Before I die project

Image
Before I Die is an interactive public art project by Candy Chang that invites people to share their hopes and dreams in public space. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget what really matters to you. With help from old and new friends, artist Candy Chang turned the side of an abandoned house in her neighborhood in New Orleans into a giant chalkboard where residents can write on the wall and remember what is important to them.  Painted with chalkboard paint and stenciled with the sentence “Before I die I want to _______”, the wall became a space where we could learn the hopes and dreams of the people around us. Before I Die transformed a neglected space into a constructive one to help improve our neighborhood and our personal well-being. It’s a question that changed Candy after she lost someone she loved very much, and she believes the design of our public spaces can better reflect what matters to us as a community and as individuals. The reaction to ...

Ultra-high Definition View of 2012 Venus Transit

Over a six-hour period on June 5-6 2012, the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) collected images in many wavelengths of one of the rarest predictable solar events: the transit of Venus across the face of the sun. These transits occur in pairs eight years apart that are separated from each other by 105 or 121 years. The last transit was in 2004 and the next will not happen until 2117

Dr Comfort Heating And Cooling

Image
We are a sort of "nomadic people" in terms of moving all the time. I have been living at several places and moving frequently, I learned how to pay attention to tiny details in an apartment. Boilers, fridges, radiators, heating and cooling systems are at times out of our attention. We just check if they function and later, after we moved in we realize that it is dropping, under-performing or simply doesn't work. There are these guys in Toronto who provide something which I would consider a reliable, pro service when it comes to install, service or maintenance systems. All kinds of heating and cooling products, furnaces, duct work, boilers or radiators, ductless air conditioners or central air-conditioning systems are available in their portfolio and are connected with a very professional manner. Maintenance packages are very useful if you want to prevent problems, days without heating or air-conditioners while waiting for a service-man. An annual maintenance with reg...
